The Starweave Estate

The Starweave Estate sits in rolling countryside approximately two hours’ ride from Godmere proper, far enough from the city to maintain aristocratic seclusion but close enough for convenient access to court. The estate has been in the family for over three centuries, granted to the Starweaves after the first Court Wizard of the lineage saved the then-king from a magical assassination attempt.

The main house is an imposing structure of grey stone and tall windows, built in the classical style with later additions creating a sprawling complex. The architecture speaks of old money and accumulated power - nothing ostentatious, but everything of the finest quality and built to last generations. The east wing contains the famous Starweave Library, a separate section of the house with its own entrance for visiting scholars, reinforced walls, and elaborate magical protections.

Extensive grounds surround the main house, including formal gardens maintained by both mundane groundskeepers and carefully placed magical wards. The gardens aren’t just decorative - they contain rare magical herbs and components that the family cultivates for their work. An ancient oak grove at the northern edge of the property sits on a convergence of ley lines, making it ideal for powerful ritual magic. The family occasionally grants access to this space for substantial fees.

The Starweave Library

The Starweave Library occupies the entire east wing across three floors. The ground floor contains the “public” collection - still rare and valuable, but accessible to paying scholars. The second floor requires special permission and holds grimoires, experimental research, and pre-cataclysm texts. The third floor is family only, containing the most dangerous and valuable works accumulated over seven generations. Climate-control enchantments preserve the books, while security wards ensure nothing leaves without authorization.

The estate generates income through several channels beyond the library access fees. Tenant farmers work the surrounding lands, paying rent that provides steady passive income. The magical herb gardens supply high-end apothecaries and potion-makers. The ritual space in the oak grove is rented for important magical workings. Combined with careful investment over centuries, these revenue streams have maintained the family’s wealth even as their direct magical services to the crown have become more political and less commercial.

Godmere

In Godmere itself, the family maintains a substantial townhouse in the upper districts - more of a small fortified manor than a simple residence. This serves as their primary residence during the social season and when court business demands their presence. The townhouse contains a smaller but still impressive library, formal receiving rooms for political entertaining, and enough space to maintain the appearance expected of a family of their status. The contrast between the two properties reflects the dual nature of Starweave power - the estate represents their ancient legitimacy and accumulated magical knowledge, while the townhouse represents their ongoing political influence and court connections. Blastran grew up primarily at the estate during his childhood, moving more frequently to the Godmere townhouse as he got older and his formal education intensified.
