Description
Beneath the Eldritch College lie the Dungeons - not a prison, but a series of reinforced underground chambers designed for magical research too dangerous to conduct above ground. Stone walls several feet thick are inscribed with powerful containment wards, and multiple layers of protective enchantments prevent magical accidents from spreading to the rest of the college.
Access to the Dungeons requires faculty permission and supervision. The air here is cooler and carries the sharp tang of various magical reagents. Scorch marks on the walls and floors testify to experiments that didn’t go quite as planned, though the protective measures ensured no lasting harm.
Different chambers serve different purposes - some for summoning and binding extraplanar entities, others for testing destructive spells, and still others for experiments with volatile or unstable magical energies. Each room is equipped with emergency dispelling mechanisms that can shut down runaway magic if necessary.
